Thinking of having a wedding that's out of the ordinary and a little untraditional? Looking for a quick and easy, no-muss-no-fuss ceremony? Or perhaps you’d like to combine your wedding and honeymoon in a sun-and-fun-filled getaway? If any or all of these apply to you, Las Vegas is definitely the place to go!
Las Vegas has long been a popular destination for couples looking to exchange vows. The city has many, many wedding chapels, and many of its hotels and casinos also offer wedding packages. There are plenty of options for those who want a unique wedding experience. You could even be married by an Elvis impersonator if you wish! But getting married in Vegas doesn’t have to mean having a wacky wedding. The city’s hotels and casinos are home to gorgeous ballrooms and fabulous courtyards that provide the perfect backdrop for a more mainstream ceremony.
Of course, the best part about getting married in Las Vegas is the ready-made reception. With buffets, bars, gambling and shows, the city provides plenty of food, drink and entertainment for your guests. It’s a great place to honeymoon, too! Stay a few extra days and soak up the sun by the pool; do some shopping at Fremont Street, the city’s large outdoor pedestrian mall; or take a day trip to the Hoover Dam.
A Las Vegas wedding is still a wedding, so you will need to do some planning to make sure it goes smoothly. The farther in advance you plan, the better the chances that your chosen date and location will be available. You should also give your guests as much notice as possible so that they can make the necessary arrangements (e.g. time off work, babysitter, etc.) and save the necessary funds. Contact your chosen wedding location as soon as possible, not just to save the date and time, but also because they may have a wedding or event planner who can assist you in making the arrangements. If they don’t, you might consider hiring a freelance planner who works in Las Vegas and can make the arrangements there on your behalf. And, of course, there’s always the Internet and sites like Las Vegas Weddings Directory to help you out.
